Easy to access from Lyon, Grenoble, and Valence cities, it's hard to imagine while driving on the way from Grenoble to Valence that at "La Rivière," a small village next to the canyon, there are hidden beautiful waterfalls suitable for beginners to experience canyoning.
However, once you reach the parking lot, you quickly arrive at the entrance of a stunning gorge where waterfalls and pools are lined up, ready for rappelling, sliding, and jumping.
The Versoud Canyon is indeed one of the best canyons in the western barrier of the Vercors Massif for discovering canyoning activities in Isère.
It is easier and shorter (only 3 hours) than the Écouges Canyon Part II, with a brief 10-minute approach walk and a comfortable flat return walk.
Everything flows smoothly in the canyon, with very little walking between the obstacles. You'll encounter a series of hanging basins, waterslides, rappels, and jumps. This canyon is well-suited for groups "He/Stag" and families with children seeking an easy canyoning route near Grenoble. Are the jumps in Versoud mandatory ?
No jump is mandatory, it is possible to bypass by sliding or abseiling.
What is the higher jump possible in the Versoud Canyon?
It is possible to make jumps up to 27 ft (not mandatory) in the Versoud canyon, provided that your level allows it (to see on the spot with the professional instructor).
What is a waterslide abseiling?
It is a beautiful waterfall that we start rappelling down and then, we end it by sliding so as not to get too fast in the water if we started it sliding from the top. The obstacle is 33 ft long, the rope is 17 ft long to start the getting down on the first part of the waterfall.
How to access the Versoud Canyon from Grenoble?
From Grenoble, take the D1532 towards Valence. At the village of "La Rivière", you will find access to the Versoud Canyon.

An unmissable canyon of the Vercors. Amazing one by its diversity, abseiling down up to 92 ft high, jumps, waterslides, swimming and local specialties... A big half day of great sensations!
The upper part of Ecouges canyon is reserved for sports people. Indeed, the reminders unfold continuously in an exceptional receipt. And we leave **the gorge with full cliff. Much descend the cascade 70m to joind the road and the second part's departure.
Between Grenoble and Valence, the Ecouges canyon is at the top of the most beautiful courses' list in Vercors. With abseil up to 70m await you on the upper part, then we can continue the lower part which is very complete with abseil of 10 to 25 meters, many jumps, slides to finish the beautiful day!
