This is our signature adventure circuit for caving in the Chartreuse.
The Dent de Crolles Traverse route, starting from the Trou du Glaz and ending at the Annette Cave, lasts nearly 8 hours underground! Other routes are possible in the Dent de Crolles, but this version remains our top recommendation.
It’s a long and highly comprehensive outing. Throughout this underground journey, you’ll encounter numerous abseils of up to 30 meters on a highly varied route shaped by water erosion. A good physical condition is essential, as well as prior experience in caving and abseiling (from activities like climbing or canyoning, for example).
We recommend trying the Eymards Cave first to familiarize yourself with rope descent and ascent techniques, ensuring you’re comfortable for the Dent de Crolles Traverse.
Climbing, downclimbing, abseiling, crawling, and hiking are all part of the program for this unforgettable day.
Good physical fitness is a must, as in addition to 8 hours of caving, there is a 1-hour approach hike and a 1-hour return hike. You’ll definitely sleep well that night!

Must-do near Dent de Crolles crossing
It’s a long and physical underground adventure, perfect for sporty people who experienced speleology before and self sufficient for abseiling down.
St Jean d'Arvey: Lover of thrills, adventure and a verticality, Jules Carret via ferrata (massif des Bauges) is made for you! Breathtaking views Chambéry basin and Mont Granier, an unmissable cultural touch, and of course some playful and aerial obstacles.
The upper part of Ecouges canyon is reserved for sports people. Indeed, the reminders unfold continuously in an exceptional receipt. And we leave **the gorge with full cliff. Much descend the cascade 70m to joind the road and the second part's departure.
Between Grenoble and Valence, the Ecouges canyon is at the top of the most beautiful courses' list in Vercors. With abseil up to 70m await you on the upper part, then we can continue the lower part which is very complete with abseil of 10 to 25 meters, many jumps, slides to finish the beautiful day!
