Located on the western slopes of the Bauges Massif, the La P'tchi Via Ferrata, also known as the Doriaz Via Ferrata, starts at the base of the Doriaz waterfall.
It takes about an hour to cross the Bauges to reach this via ferrata from Annecy or Geneva.
It is the little sister of the very challenging Jules Carret Via Ferrata.
A 30-minute approach hike leads you down to the start of the route on a south-facing cliff overlooking Saint-Jean-d'Arvey.
Climbing this via ferrata is varied and long, featuring beautiful aerial traverses, a Nepalese bridge, and stunning vertical sections!
La P'tchi is particularly appealing because of its intermediate difficulty level: longer and more physically demanding than beginner-level via ferratas in the area, yet still more accessible than the very challenging Jules Carret Via Ferrata.
From Grenoble to this via ferrata, it’s about a 1 hour and 15-minute drive.
It is also part of the via ferratas accessible from Lyon, reachable in 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.

These two via ferrata routes are located on the same cliff, with the starting points of these via ferrata routes being 200m apart. The Pt'chi route is less challenging than the Jule Carret route, which is very difficult. Both routes converge at the summit.
The via corda de la Doriaz route consists of an easy climbing route, rappelling descents, underground hiking, and a big rappel that allows us to reach the starting point of the via la P'tchi.
