The Angon Canyon is an Annecy classic, one to check off your bucket list. Located on the edge of Annecy Lake, Agnon Canyon is a good fit forbeginners with some prior canyoning experience. The Canyon has 2 options :
- Angon Performance the longer of the two routes
- Angon discovery, a shorter duration and more moderate than Angon Performance
For the Performance version, you will have to climb a somewhat strenuous path for 30 minutes or do it faster by car.
The descent begins, further upstream, by a vertiginous 115ft rappel down in the Angon waterfall from a famous lookout point.
The descent begins with an impressive rappel from the footbridge where there is a breathtaking view of the waterfall. As you begin the decent directly in the water, if the flow is high, things can be more sporty.
Next up, the always exciting left bank featuring a 60ft free-hanging rappel . Once out of the water, a narrow gully sends you through the ‘mailbox’, an original and surprising toboggan-siphon!
The Performance route provides a variety of technical situations in the setting of "La Tournette", an impressive mountain overlooking Annecy Lake.

Is it possible to avoid the first rappel of 40m which is the most impressive ?
No, this descent of 40 meters is an obligatory passage of Angon performance canyon, and we can not avoid it; but if you do not feel like abseiling alone (control your own speed), the monitor can do it for you. All in all, if you do not really feel it, you may go to the discovery version of the canyon.
Is it possible for people to join the group that makes Angon Performance with the Discovery part ?
No, the accesses are completely different and do not allow to join easily.
Is the water in Angon cold ?
No, Angon is not famous for being a cold canyon, moreover the swimming parts are rather short (small pools) so we can go out quickly.
We hesitate in choosing between Montmin and Angon performance, what do you recommend ?
We offer the Montmin canyon and Angon Performance at the same price and duration, but they are 2 different canyons:
- Montmin is a little further from Annecy than Angon. It's an aquatic canyon with lots of jumps and slides and only one 10m abseil.
- Angon performance is at the edge of Annecy Lake, it is a vertical canyon with many abseils and only a few jumps and slides.
How to get to Angon from Annecy without a car ?
From Annecy:
- By Bus: line 61 Annecy Talloire Montmin. From Anney bus station to "Angon" stop. Journey time 40 minutes. More information about the schedules of this line. More informations Bus schedules.
- By bike: around 45 minutes on the bike path of the lake (take the East Shore Veyrier Lake). Bike rental "Roule Ma poule" possible.

If you wish to explore other canyons near Talloires, you can go canyoning in Annecy at Montmin, or in Lescheraines Canyon in the Bauges.

Must-do near Angon canyon performance
A version of the canyon of Angon, the longest one, reserved for athletes not afraid of heights and who have already done rappelling.
Get fresh during the hottest period! A dream you can afford from July to September. Jumps and water slides for 3,5 hours!! Let's go!
The one and only, the most classic Discovery Canyon, at the edge of Annecy Lake, 30mn from Geneva. Beginners will enjoy it: it's uick, 2.5 hours, it's funny: abseiling down, water slides and beautiful environment.
Winter Angon Discovery, you’ll be equipped with drysuits to remain insulated and relatively warm.
It is THE most accessible long route above Annecy Lake. A climbing day on a 600 ft long route on a beautiful limestone and big gentle holds.
This Via Ferrata goes through 3 parts with increasing level, but you’ll be able to escape at the start of each of the section and maybe your Guide will help if he’s awake!!
